'A young robot dreams of flying to become a superhero, after a failed attempt, fate gives them all they need to become one.'
This short was created by the team Escape the Virus during the Framestore Summer Internship 2021.
Team members: Camila Valencia, Andrew Watson, Michaela Butler and Musharaf Hussain (Rasel).
Music by: Paul James and Neil Saxby
Software used: Autodesk Maya, Substance Painter, Marvelous Designer, Speed Tree, Adobe Photoshop, Unreal Engine, Adobe After Effects.
During this group competition I was the captain of Escape the Virus which included several tasks such as keeping a clear schedule and setting deadlines to achieve great results on time, contacting our mentors back and forth to make sure everything was running smoothly and asking for support when needed.
I was in charge of modelling the log cabin where the robot lived while doing previs and layout with Unreal Engine.
Once all the previs and timing was done I was in charge of texturing the cabin, garden assets and the main character.
While texturing I was also doing fx tests of some ideas we had in mind for the short but was not used at the end.
As the texturing and animation was being finalised I was in charge of the lighting and post processing effects to make everything look more cohesive and once the rendering was done I proceeded to comp all the shots together, add the 2D effects one of my teammates (Michaela) made and created the credits.

FX tests with UE4, the initial idea for the short was to have a comic style with black outlines and to differentiate between the superhero and real worlds, the superhero objects were in colour and the real world in black and white
